SurgeSpace Personal Information Protection Policy

  • SurgeSpace complies with the laws and other regulations concerning the protection of personal information.
  • We take every possible measure to prevent, and to correct, unauthorized access to, and the loss, destruction, alteration, or leakage of, personal information.
  • The personal information we collect is used only within the scope of the purposes set out in this SurgeSpace privacy policy.

While the provisions set out here serve as a baseline, where the terms of a particular service contain a provision that differs from this privacy policy, the terms of that service take precedence in the case of that service.

Applicable Scope of Personal Information

Personal information that we acquire from an individual (meaning a user of the services provided by SurgeSpace, including corporate bodies) in the course of using the services provided by SurgeSpace is managed in accordance with this SurgeSpace privacy policy. However, where you reach another website by following an advertisement or search-service link from one of our services, any personal information left on that website cannot be managed directly by us and is therefore outside the applicable scope of this personal information protection policy.

Personal information refers to content such as the following.
  • Name, postal code, address, telephone number, date of birth, and the like.
  • ID, password, email address, IP telephone number, communication history, and the like.
  • Credit card information, other billing information, arrears information, and the like.

Purpose of Use of Personal Information

SurgeSpace uses the personal information acquired through the various web-based content and services we provide for the following purposes:

  • To operate services and systems and to improve their convenience.
  • To verify your identity, to bill for service fees, to notify you of changes to fees or to the conditions under which services are provided, to notify you of the suspension, discontinuation, or cancellation of services, and otherwise in connection with the provision of our services.
  • To introduce our new products, services, campaigns, customer gifts, and the like.
  • To provide announcements, maintenance notices, and other important information.
  • To distribute or send email newsletters, direct mail, and faxes that introduce products and services of our business partners that we believe may be useful to you.
  • For marketing activities relating to our products and services.
  • To process payment for products and services.

Where there is a change to personal information that would impede delivery of a product or the issuing of a charge — such as a municipality name, postal code, financial institution name, or credit card expiration date — we may amend the registered information ourselves.

Method of Acquiring Personal Information

SurgeSpace acquires personal information by lawful and fair means and does not obtain it through improper methods that go against the individual's will. To this end, we either obtain the individual's consent regarding the collection and purpose of use of personal information, or post the necessary information on our website.

Security of Personal Information

Across all SurgeSpace services, we take appropriate steps to keep your personal information accurate and up to date. We also maintain a robust framework to prevent unauthorized access to your information, take the measures necessary and appropriate to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of personal information and otherwise to manage its security, and continuously work to improve our information management system. Where SurgeSpace entrusts a portion of its operations involving the handling of personal information to a company we judge to be sufficiently trustworthy and with which we have concluded a confidentiality agreement, your personal information remains protected under the SurgeSpace privacy policy in such cases as well.

Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

  • SurgeSpace does not disclose or provide your personal information to third parties without your prior consent. Where personal information is shared with a third party or provided to a subcontractor, we separately investigate the recipient, conclude the necessary agreements such as a confidentiality agreement, and ensure that the personal information is handled and managed appropriately.
  • When processing payment for a product or paid service, we may exchange personal information with financial institutions and the like in order to confirm the validity of an account number or the validity of a credit card. In addition, we may disclose personal information where we are required to do so by law, or where we reasonably determine that disclosure is necessary in order to protect or defend the rights, property, or safety of SurgeSpace or of our users.

Disclosure of Personal Information

Except in the following cases, we do not disclose personal information.

  • When information obtained through aggregation, analysis, and the like is disclosed or provided to a third party such as a business partner in a form that does not identify or allow the identification of any individual.
  • When personal information is disclosed or used after voluntarily obtaining the consent of the "user" or other relevant party.
  • When disclosure is made pursuant to a court-issued warrant or other court decision or order, or under the law.
  • When there is a lawful and proper inquiry for information from a public prosecutor, the police, or a supervisory authority.
  • When there is a request that falls under Article 4 of the Providers' Liability Act (formally, the "Act on the Limitation of Liability for Damages of Specified Telecommunications Service Providers and the Right to Demand Disclosure of Identification Information of the Senders").

SurgeSpace manages your personal information in as accurate and up-to-date a form as possible. When you make a request, we will disclose your registered information after confirming that you are the person concerned. If you notify us that the content is inaccurate or otherwise incorrect, we will verify the content and, as necessary, add to, change, correct, or delete (withdraw) the registered information.

Privacy Provisions for Mobile Applications

The handling of data when you use the mobile applications provided by our company (hereinafter the "Apps") is set out below. These provisions take precedence over the other sections of this page.

1. Scope

These provisions apply to all mobile applications that our company publishes on the App Store, Google Play, and similar platforms.

2. Data Collected and Purpose of Use

The Apps may access device features (camera, photo library, microphone, location, and the like) to the minimum extent necessary in order to provide each app's functionality and to improve its quality.

On-device data access: Media files such as photos, videos, and audio selected by the user are managed within each app's local area (on the device). As a rule, these are not transmitted to our servers.

Device information and diagnostic data: We may use crash reports and usage data in order to improve app stability.

3. Advertising and External Services

The Apps may use advertising platforms (such as Google AdMob) and analytics tools (such as Firebase). For the purpose of optimizing advertising and performing analysis, these may obtain device-specific identifiers and network information. Please refer to each provider's terms below.

Google (AdMob, Firebase, Analytics): https://policies.google.com/privacy

4. Network Communication

The file-transfer feature included in some apps operates over the network environment (such as Wi-Fi) specified by the user. Communications are encrypted, and measures are in place to prevent interception by third parties.

5. User Control

Users can manage their data from each app's settings screen, and uninstalling an app discards all data related to that app on the device.

6. Contact

For inquiries regarding the privacy of the Apps, please contact us at .
